This is a new, never used, Edward Byers Company, 22" research drive gear, which includes a Bodine
2 RPM synchronous motor, a genuine Edward Byers spring loaded worm and worm housing, and an
optional 3.501" bore by 12" clutch. Don't be fooled by imitations, or Edward Byers gears that
do not include byers worm housings and other important components.

The fact is that Ed Byers is now in his latter half of his 70's, I believe he is 76-78, but don't
quote me on this, I honestly do not know. The second fact is that Ed Byers no longer makes these
large gears. The third fact is that this is the last time I am going to post this item for sale.
The price is a firm $2500 without the clutch assembly, add $350 if you would also like the clutch,
it was a $750 value, and it has internal ball bearings along the inner race, and a bearing
cage that was made by Ed Byers, again, this is not some imitation.

If this gear is not sold and payment received by January 10th, 2004, it goes into long term storage
where it will vintage until Ed Byers is gone. Hopefully, he will live and work until he is in his
90's and beyond. However, when that day comes when Ed is gone, we will be listing this gear for
$10,000 because you won't be able to get one for probably $15,000 to $20,000 if you can get one at all.

Please do not buy this gear as an investment, it is not an investment. But if you are building a
large equatorial mounting, or if you have a large equatorial mounting that is in need of a professional
drive system, there are very few of these gears available, and this one is new and below cost.
