The original owner had the opportunity to compare this OTA to another C9.25 that he owned, and had this to say about it (the OTA for sale here is the second C9.25):
"My first telescope was a 6" Alter M603 Mak-Cass. I bought a C9.25 (with the CG-5 mount, etc.) on a whim, but after two comparison sessions, I sold the Mak-Cass the next day. The images were that much better on everything (DSO's, planets, etc.). But I wanted a much better mount. I lucked into a last-stock G9.25 from a dealer, and bought it, primarily interested in the better G9 / GM-8 mount. But I wasn't sure which OTA to keep. I performed another two rounds of scope testing. The other OTA was sold immediately after the second session, without question or hesitation. I was thrilled with the first OTA (it was the Alter 603 killer)-- until this one came along. Out of the two OTA's, this one is remarkably better. I've had it to 500x on the planets with Ultima 2x and Televue 10 mm plossl (OK, 492x or so). Pretty cool. Image scale is huge, and the image does not break down at all-- I could have pushed it further. I told myself I would never sell this set-up. My wife is shaking her head at me."
