I have a pair of Fujinon 16 X 70 FMT SX binoculars that I would like to sell/trade. I’m looking for a 10” Newtonian with an equatorial mount.

FULL DISCLOSURE: These glasses need collimating by someone who knows how to collimate binoculars.

They were purchased new by me and cost over $550 five years ago. They were my first (i.e., inexperienced) astronomical purchase and I soon realized that; (1) they were too heavy to use without a sturdy binocular mount, and (2) if I had to set up a mount before viewing, I might as well buy a scope and be done with it, which I did. They have been used only a few times and are in excellent condition. I have the original case, case strap, lens covers, Fujinon neck strap, and the original box, even the plastic bags in which everything was packed.

For terrestrial views, I can’t see or notice the miscollimation, but at night, when looking at Jupiter for instance, you can tell that the collimation is off. I feel that the collimation has been off since new, but due to my inexperience at the time, I couldn’t tell it. I have not attempted to find a source to correct this, mainly, because I don’t know of a place to send them that can do the work. As it is now, they are packed away and will stay there until I sell or trade them or find a qualified person to collimate them.

These Fujinons need a good home and would make someone a great pair of astronomical glasses. I am interested in discussing a trade for a 10” or 12” Newtonian, preferably with an equatorial mount.

Please, serious inquires only. I can provide pictures on request. If I’m unable to work out a sale/trade, I would be interested in knowing a reliable source that could collimate them back to original specs.

Thanks for looking,
