The reason I say almost brand new is because... well that's what it is. I bought the ST80 and liked it so much after using it twice that I went ahead and bought the Celestron ST102! Don't need both.
In addition, as a special bonus, I have also completely overhauled this scope. What does that mean? Well anyone that has ever bought a Celestron, Orion, or similar ST80 knows they come from China. As such, the Chinese don't seem to want to do the little things to make a scope preform. For instance, all the screws attaching anything to the OTA are not painted black. Result is you have little shiny screws poking up into the tube reflecting light around the inside of the OTA. They also do a poor job of painting the inside of the OTA flat black. Again, horrible for contrast. The objective needs to be darkend on the edge to prevent light scatter. The focus tube needs to be darkend and properly aligned. Then it needs to be star tested properly and collimated. THEY DO NONE OF THIS. However, all of this has been done by me, for you. As a master scope technician I literally disassembled this scope, repainted the inside of the OTA with light absorbing flat black, blackend all the shiny metal screws, darkend the focus draw tube and aligned, and darkend the objective edge. The result is a phenomenal level of contrast and color correction as good as I have seen on a semi-apo 80mm I have at a fraction of the cost. On a waxing quarter moon there was NO blue color tinge. ON Vega, no blue tinge. You try it an you'll see.
This would make the ultimate finder scope, or great grab and go quick look. I am asking $115 OTA only (no accessories) and split the shipping. I prefer Paypal.
