Recently one of my astro-buddies received his brand new Celestron CGE 1400. Of course, the day it came he had me come right over to help with assembly. As we began to put things together I immedialy saw that some upgrades would be needed to make field assembly and tear down less than a pain. The main issue was the small button head screws that hold the equatorial head to the tripod. Nobody wants to have to fiddle with button head cap screws in the dark!!
I went to work scouring all of my manufacturing sources for a *NICE* comfortable hand knob assembly solution. I also saw that a T-Handle allen wrench for the declination adustment would come in very handy as well.
After spending well over one hundred bucks in test knobs, we finally found a very nice solution. Rubberized fluted hand knobs and an appropriate T-Handle. I am offering a kit of 6 knobs and the T-handle wrench for $39.00 + shipping.
