Johnsonian V Equatorial Platform with the latest May 2003 microprocessor upgrade, its original cables, hand controller and manual plus one extra hand controller, all in EXCELLENT condition and ADJUSTABLE FOR LATITUDE.
This EQ Dobsonian platform is rock steady with my 12.5" Starmaster and, as it's supposed to, it tracks beautifully for about an hour before needing a reset that takes a few seconds and makes you good for another hour of steady tracking. It's got a beautiful powder coat finish; elegant two-piece aluminum casting; is easily transportable, weighing 22 lbs. total; sets up in 2 minutes; adds only 4.5" to your Dob's height; and is accurately rated for 8" to 16" Dobsonians.
I actually didn't need the microprocessor chip upgrade but got it just to keep the platform up with Sam's latest improvement. (By the way, he is terrific on customer support regardless of whether or not you're the original buyer.) The upgrade involved my installation of a re-programmed microprocessing chip supplied by Sam which micro-steps the motors and completely cures a minor vibration problem encountered by a few users with lighter, longer focal length dobs whose weight/balance was incompatible with the motor speed. That problem is one that I NEVER experienced with this platform, which works great and is being sold to finance an upgrade to a far more expensive RxDesign GoTo/Tracking system.
New it's $760 shipped.
This hardly used, less than a year old upgraded model with a spare controller is $590 shipped anywhere in CONUS.
(If you wanted to look it over and pick it up, I'd save shipping and pass that on to you, so the price would then be $560.)
