I'm attracted to optical devices whenever I find them. I found this pair of Civil War era binoculars at a local auction. There are no markings on them indicating the manufacturer, but most binoculars of that time period were made in France.
The optics are amazingly clear for being around 150 yrs. old. The brass is mostly shiny with a bit of tarnish. The lens shields expand outward. I don't know if there was any leather around the shield or not; its hard to tell.
I don't know what they're worth, but I would be willing to trade for some worthwhile astronomy item, or sell them outright. Any offers?
