I am working on cooling system for my 8" Criterion Custom Deluxe Dynascope. I already have mirror cooling fans installed but I am having problems powering a 3.6 volt air mattress air-pump that is an ideal fit for the bottom of the tube.
Maybe someone has an orphan 3.3v single output 8-10 amp switching power supply I can purchase. There are plenty of larger multiple output 200 watt units available elsewhere but not a in single output, 30-50 watt range. It will then be a simple matter to design a PWM motor speed controller. I want to avoid the larger units if possible.
The large capacity air-pump pictured will quickly stabilize the OTA temp before winding down the speed and letting the smaller fans (not shown)keep a light flow across the mirror.
Aside from the electronics, there is a bit of experimentation involved here, mainly to find the best arrangement for the internal fans and not drill holes or permanently modify this classic scope.
As a electronics lab tech, I know there are all kinds of project orphan items sitting around looking for a home. Let me know what you have.
