I have a Celestron Advanced Series C9.25S telescope that came with the non-GOTO CG5 mount/tripod. After quite a bit of research I elected to purchased this system with both astrophotography and value for one's money in mind. And, while I have had no problem with the mount/tripod so far, it was quickly apparent that I made a mistake not getting the GOTO version of the telescope for astrophotography.
I have thought about adding Celestron's dual axis drive and AStro Master system, but this would not add GOTO capabilities from my understanding. As such I have also looked into purchasing a Meade Autostar #493 kit for a CG5 conversion.
I am therefore looking to buy either a conversion kit for for my CG5 to make it GOTO, or to replace the tripod/mount if the opportunity is there. Price is certainly a factor as I can only afford up to $400, but I was interested in what was available.
In regards to a new tripod and counterweights, the only items I have on my telescope other than the OTA is a Telrad reflex and a 9X50 finderscope.
