Are you getting all hyped up yet for the proximity of Mars??
I'm not sure I am. The last time everyone was yelling and
screaming about this a few years ago , all I could make
out was a bright red blob, and maybe a polar cap if I squinted
just right. It really was too bright and too low in the sky.

And so, I am not stupid enough to guarantee you will
get a fantastic photo of Mars this time around. BUT, I will
guarantee you that your picture of that blob will be in perfect
focus with a Series IV 'Stiletto' focuser. From there on, your
fate will depend on your experience, filters, and luck. (Hey,
no one claimed astrophotography was an easy hobby.)

The Series IV 'Stiletto' really works equally well with eyepiece
projection or deep-sky photography. It will put your 35mm or
CCD camera in perfect focus each and every time in only
seconds. Our high-resolution ronchi gratings and calibration
to within .001mm of the film-plane/backfocus distance of your
camera does take the hit-and-miss adventuring out of focusing -
so much so that you may become bored with this part of the
astrophotography challenge. And that is good since it will give
you more time to fiddle with filters (get a 21A) and exposures, and the other 99 obstacles to taking a great photo of Mars.

Series IV 'Stilleto' models are available for all fine 35mm, CCD,
and medium format cameras - the new 35mm Digital SLRs too.
