This slice of Brenham is 113 x 103 mm. Thickness is 5-7 mm. It weighs 244 grams (over 8 oz.). It has been carefully polished and etched on one side. It shows the Widmanstatten pattern and inclusions of troilite etc. very clearly. Most of the olivine crystals are fractured, but are still in place and none have been replaced by the green epoxy that some dealers use. It is clear coated for protection from corrosion. It was cut from an 8 lb. meteorite found on a farm near Greensburg, Kansas.

Pallasites are part of the relatively rare category of stony-iron meteorites. They are thought to originate in a transition zone between the iron core and silicate mantle of a shattered planet from the early solar system. They are much sought after for their stunning appearance. This one is spectacular.

Most pallasites cost $20 per gram and up. They have risen faster than most other types in recent years, due to limited supply. Even the relatively affordable Brenhams go for $5-10 per gram. My price for this one is $975 + shipping.
