This surveyor’s level is a high quality, precision instrument. It is solidly built, mainly of brass. The optics are coated, clean, and sharp. All motions work smoothly and the bubble is very sensitive. I have not had its calibration certified, but it agrees well with my newer, more expensive instruments (within 1/4” at 100 yards). Cosmetically it’s no princess; there are some spots where the paint is scraped off and inventory numbers are engraved. It’s a great workhorse. Brunson is still making premium surveying equipment; they have a nice website.
Length is 18”. Aperture is 37 mm. I think the magnification is around 30x. It comes with the original oak (ash?) case; together they weigh 24 lbs. The base plate has the U.S. standard size: 3.5” x 8 thread/inch.
