Want to get the most out of Mars’ upcoming historic opposition, but can’t afford $650-795 for a Zeiss Abbe Ortho (and wouldn‘t pay it even if you could)? Get one of these legendary Pentax smc Orthos. They are in excellent condition and have obviously been coddled ever since they left the factory.
These oculars have no ghost images, noticeable off-axis aberrations, color shifts, or dimming from extra glass elements. Their contrast and scatter suppression are excellent, with minimum throughput loss, and no lateral color problems. Pentax's multicoatings are nearly invisible with astonishing 97% to 98% transmission that matches that of the Zeiss Abbe Orthos.
The tack sharpness and lack of lateral color and scatter of these oculars make them superb performers for both planetary and double star observing.
I already had two each of these focal lengths for my binoviewer when I was forced to acquire them as part of a complete set in order to get other focal lengths I needed.
Asking $220 for either one, carefully packed, insured and shipped Priority Mail to anywhere in Conus (a .965" to 1.25" adapter is included with each ocular).
SALES PENDING ON BOTH NOW.
Paypal is ok if you don't mind paying their 3% fee, and a money order or cashier's checks is fine too.
Thanks for looking!
