Observatory project/observing partner – PART 3
In conclusion, this project/offering is a truly unique, once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to share virtually unlimited use of/access to what will be one of the finest, most comprehensive, easily transportable, small observatories in existence – in return you contribute some time and a place to put it.
If interested, and you meet the above requirements, please respond via reply e-mail; in your reply tell me about yourself; where you are, and the relevant particulars regarding your ability to provide both a suitable parking place and workplace for the observatory. BTW, the observatory was built on a new, single axle flatbed-type utility trailer with short box sides. The trailer is about 14’ long, 8+’ high, and is right at the maximum highway legal width, which I believe is around 106” (<9+’). I have a fairly specialized 4X4 tow vehicle that will help to take it (and us) to those less traveled dark sky sites. Ideally, you won’t mind doing most of the driving, as I’m happier and more comfortable as a passenger than a driver. Don’t worry about being “trailer timid” – I’m good with trailers, and have no problem doing all the backing/parking stuff if necessary. Having a “special purpose” designation, the observatory is licensed/registered in CA for six years, through February of 2009 (no small feat).
Selected respondents will receive a word doc attachment that itemizes my stash of astro goodies, many of which are either already dedicated to the observatory, or available to be used with it as necessary. This should give suitable interested parties a better understanding of what they will be sharing. Proceeding from there, I would expect to exchange phone numbers . . . have a chat or two via telephone . . . and then arrange a meeting and look-see as a final step.
Thanks – David Frederick
