Meade DS-16 equatorial mount, pier, and counterweight with a Vogel Digitrak II contoller. Includes two central columns for the pier: the standard 14-inch column (shown at the right) for use with large Newtonian telescopes, and a custom brass 30-inch column more suitable for large Cassegrains (as set up in the photo -- the telescope and rings are not for sale!). There are many cosmetic blemishes, but everything works just fine. To give some idea of the capacity of this mount, the illustrated telescope and rings weigh nearly 60 pounds and are carried comfortably by the mount. The mount is excellent for visual observations, but due to backlash in the operation of the slow motion controls, I consider it unsuitable for serious astrophotography.
The price is $650 plus shipping, BUT...
Due to the great weight of the mount, I strongly prefer pickup rather than shipping. I will meet a buyer at any location up to 150 miles from Princeton, New Jersey, or, better yet, I would gladly deliver the mount to a buyer at the NEAF (May 17-18 in Suffern, NY).
