The design of this scope won first place at Stellfane last
August. It was an ATM project and was assembled at the Delmarva
Stargazers Mirror Making Session in March 2002.
It consists of a 60mm/1000mm refractor, a focuser,several lengths
of chrome drainage pipe,an iris, an occulting disc on a shaft
attached to a lens, and an H-Alpha filter plus a 1.25" diagonal.
It sounds complicated but works very nicely on solar promineces.
It does require a good Equatorial mount to keep the occulting
disc centered on the image of the sun.
An inexpensive way to veiw prominences.
Thanks for looking.
