"Barn Door" Camera Tracking Platform $40 Shipped
This was my first tracking setup. I didn't like the inaccuracy of a barn door mount, so I made an equitorial platform to go on top of my camera tripod. It uses a motor out of a Celestron SCT and 1/4"-20 threaded rod to move the platform mounted on a ball bearing turn table. It has a Meade 8x21 finder for sighting and aligning on Polaris. Comes with an AC adapter and speed control. I am keeping the quick release base from my tripod, so you will need to adapt it to your own tripod. My suggestion is to buy a spare quick release plate that fits your tripod and screw it to the bottom. It will probably be expensive to ship due to size, shape, and weight, so I will just include the shipping so there are no surprises. $40 shipped. The motor reduction gear box adapter and finder are worth more than that, but it seems a shame to rip it all apart.
I am raising money to cover the earnest money for a house I have bid on, so I need to do paypal on this one.
