This is the Russian-made Maksutov by INTES. This is a very nice planetary / solar scope, and it is light enough for convenient portable use. I’ve really enjoyed this scope – I am the original owner.
OPTICAL: The optical performance of this telescope is quite good: typical Maksutov image quality – high contrast, good star test.
It has a 150mm (~5.9 inch) corrector plate (Primary is ~ 6.2 inch) with enhanced transmission coatings. Coatings are in good shape (could use a cleaning), there is a scuff line (not a scratch) in the coating that is cosmetic (no optical effects – but I was sad that I made it while driving home one night).
This is a fixed-mirror OTA, so focus is done external to the OTA (more stable). I will supply an adaptor that provides the standard SCT thread mount (all the Meade, Celestron, etc. accessories will fit this).
I fit a 9x50mm finder (Celestron) to the OTA – the original finder was too small (6x30). There are a number of threaded attachment-points in the aluminum OTA: good for piggyback mounts, counterweights, etc.
FORK MOUNT: This scope is mounted on a sturdy Russian, cast aluminum fork mount. The Polar axis is driven (12 Volts DC) with a quartz-controlled motor, there is a hand-paddle to adjust the drive, and the Dec-axis has a manual tangent drive. The mount has an adjustable wedge with a built-in level.
OTHER: This has been a hard working scope that I’ve used in portable service; it has the usual scuffs, scrapes and paint flakes. No tube dents. I will supply the scope with the original wooden box it came in.
I’m asking $725 + actual shipping (probably ~$40 ConUS)
