I have for sale a rare set of four C. C. Young eyepiece, hand made in the late forties, they are of the Ramsden design, These are not related to the ubiquitous Ramsden’s from cheap department store types, these eyepieces use two plano convex sides facing each other. They are about 6mm, 10mm, 16mm, and 20mm as I measured the fl.There are no markings on the eyepieces themselves, they all have 1.25” barrels. They are made of all brass and the lens are made of high index glass and hand polished, condition is very good. I have used these with my TV NP-101 and the views were quite good on axis, fuzzy near the edges and some minor color on the edges of the object being observed, this is due I believe from using such a fast (f 5.4) scope with eyepieces that were designed for long fl scopes. The eyepieces were first advertised in the early fifties in S & T.
I have the original shipping box from C. C. Young with the postmark
dated 1948 and a JPEG of it that I will send to you along with other
JPEG'S of the eyepieces
This set of four eyepieces is priced at $ 300 OBO.
Trades considered, I really don’t need anything in particular but I think we all could use an extra 3-4” refractor, mak, or eyepieces. If needed I could add cash to seal a trade
Thank you, Gary
