Why are you still dragging out that German equatorial mount for a quick observing session ? Using an Altaz mount with encoders, still gets the visual job done. It allows for 5 minute setup and takedown. Only tripod, mount and tube to deal with, no extra German EQ parts. The German eq mounts are needed for photography; but not for visual. Like they say, the easier it is to setup, the more you will use your telescope, transport your telescope and appreciate your purchase. Capacities exceeding 70 pounds. Altaz Head weight about 26 pounds. Tripod about 20 pounds. Full zeinth viewing possible with most scopes. Options for 4000 step encoders, eyepiece caddies and hard cases available. The PIC below shows a SKy Commander hooked up to the Altaz Mount. The mount is very accurate. Your tube is mounted via your existing dovetail bars ( either Losmandy or AstroPhysics ). Pricing as follows:

Pricing:

Altaz mount alone ( choice of colors ) $ 2,200.00
Encoders and mounting hardware 225.00
Slo-mo controls 450.00
tripod 295.00
2" & 1.25" eyepiece caddies both sides 175.00
Hard ABS case with 3 recessed handles 350.00

The mount has ultra smooth movement with an 8" bearing surface in
Azimuth and both thrust and radial bearings on altitude and azimuth. Slo
Mo controls allow continueous clutch friction adjustment in both axis. The
Hard coated powdercoat will give years of tough service. Standard mount
comes with altitude lockups for easy & secure loading and choice of
either a Losmandy or AP saddle. Tak Mewlon 250 NOT for sale !

Thanks,

Joe Castoro
