I just got this to use on my LXD-55 mount when the LX-200's went on sale. The 2080 is a good scope. Optically, I was surprised how good after I got it properly collimated, on a par with my previous C8's. The A/C drive mount is accurate, but not easy to align with the included wedge, and the tripod is to die for. Heck the tripod alone sells for $300 new. My plan was to get a mounting base that would allow me to mount the LXD-55 on the Meade tripod. Then I was going to mount the OTA on a CG5 dovetail for use with the LXD-55. And finally, I was going to make the ultimate camera platform out of the base
The one downside to all of this was that the "dust" on the secondary is actually the mirror coating flaking off. Although it is completely useable, as is. I suppose a twenty year old OTA is destined to have its downside. Luckily, it will only cost $30 to be recoated, and you can flock the inside with protostar while you have the corrector off. 8^)
It has a brand new Telrad, a 1-1/4" visual back that also has T-threads for attaching a camera, a metal front cover, rear dust plug, power cord, equatorial wedge, manual slow motion on RA and DEC, the original manual, and the extremely rigid adjustable height field tripod with a hefty leg spreader that doubles as an eyepiece tray.
THe whole shebang for $600 including shipping in the US. I prefer paypal, but can work with a money order as well.
If it doesn't sell, I will break it up and sell the pieces as follows:
I'll keep the Telrad
OTA and visual back for $350 plus actual shipping
Base and forks for $100
The wedge for $75
The tripod for $175
I could probably get more by breaking it up, but it will be easier to sell it as a whole.
Thanks for looking,
P.S. I am raising cash for the LX-200 sale, so check out all my other stuff, too!
