I have a great 8" f/5.3 newtonian with a sonotube that's starting to get soft with all of the humidity we have here in New England. I'm thinking of putting the optics into a more weather resistant tube. The tube needs to be close to 10" inside and at least 46" long. I don't care about the finish much because I plan on re-doing it.

I haven't decided what material is best. Depends on price and availability. A new AL tube from Hastings will run $60-$75.

So if you got something you want to get rid of, or know of a source for aluminum, fiberglass or graphite tubes, drop me a line and we'll talk.

Thanks for looking,

Bruce Berger
