This is probably the best starter scope there is. For a couple hundred dollars you get a fine optical instrument, not one of those cheapo "Tasco" types that never work. This has sharp optics that allow you to see excellent views of the planets, moon, star clusters and yes; some nebula and galaxies. After a couple years of experience with this scope I stepped up to an 8 inch.
Very similar to present Celestron FS 114. This is model #31048. Has sturdy, adjustable, wood tripod. Other items: German Equatorial Mount, 5X24 Finderscope, 10mm Celestron Wide Angle and 28mm Edmund Scientific eyepieces. Also includes a home-made solar filter from BAADER AstroSolar™ material (See: Astro-Physics solar accessories Part #KDRA105V, a $70 value!) Moon filter and Telrad mount (no telrad), too.
Purchased for $300 + tax. Willing to sell for $200 or best offer. Includes solar filter.
Main thing: I do have the boxes, but do not want to take it fully apart and figure out how to get it into the boxes. Please Chicago area inquiries only. I am willing to meet halfway even if it is just for a showing.
Feel free to e-mail or call with any questions. And please make me an offer!
