I am going to college soon so I won't have room for my big telescope.
I bought the scope straight from Orion about two and a half years ago. I've added numerous upgrades that are too detailed to describe here fully, but my review on CloudyNights should be informative. It's a bit out of date, and I can't put URLs in the ad, so if you want to know more, just contact me.
Here's the list of upgrades:
Velcro on dust cap to stick to side of scope
Rigel Quickfinder instead of standard 6x30 (6x30 not included)
Holes for mounting a 50mm finder bracket
Scotch tape added to focuser to get rid of the wobbles
Teflon "magic sliders" added to altitude and azimuth bearings
Velcro on back of tube (near mirror) for adding a leg weight counterbalance that I made (leg weight not included, but it's easy to make one yourself)
Felt padding under mirror to prevent distortion
Thumbscrews for three of the six mirror adjustment screws (the other three are metric so I couldn't replace them)
You get the telescope, all the caps, the eyepiece rack (4x1.25"), and the Rigel Quickfinder. You will not get an optical finder or any eyepieces. The Rigel Quickfinder is held down with clear double sided tape and rubber bands. This is the stuff that isn't nearly as strong as foamy double sided tape, but it won't leave marks. I can include some of the foamy stuff and an extra Rigel Quickfinder base if you'd like for free.
One final note: I'd like a local buyer. I can't find the original packaging and shipping this monster would be hell on earth, so I'm only looking to sell it to someone near the Twin Cities area. I'm 15 miles northeast of St. Paul, near Stillwater. I don't have a set limit on how far I'll travel, but I probably won't want to go more than 100 miles.
I'm loosely asking $400 for the scope. Make me an offer. I take checks or money orders.
