Thanks Peter Lipscomb
If you don't want to pay for a GPDX ($1200 plus) or a G-8 ($1400 plus) and you want to have a brand new/ stable mount this may be your solution. I have a like new in box Great Polaris and matching pier. The pier is tall enough for a refractor, but can be cut easily for a newt or Mak. This is because although it does have "rod rigging" for added stability, it does not need the rods as it is soooo stable. This new would cost over $1000. I will sell it for $700 plus shipping!. (in new condition) That is half of what it would cost you to get into the next larger mounts, and it is more stable than a straight S.P. or G.P.......we won't even talk about a CG5 (now will we). Very easy to set up, just unscrew three screws for the head. ( I would leave the legs attached)...includes the standard 6# counter weight and polar alignment scope.....Nice Unit!
