For Sale 12.5" F/6 Dobsonian Telescope.

This telescope provides excellent planetary views and outstanding visual deep sky images. It is a classic solid tube Dobsonian with excellent optics. It is well balanced. It moves & tracks easily and stays put after it has been moved. Selling because I just bought a bigger scope and don't have room.

The scope was built in the 60s and was carried on a huge Astrola GEM. After it was sold, the scope had several owners and was neglected. I got it 3 years ago, restored it, and converted it to a Dobsonian.

Steve Swayze touched up the primary in 1/2000. He made it ABSOLUTELY FIRST RATE. The secondary is 2.1" for 17% obstruction. Both mirrors were then recoated.

The primary has a small chip on the side that does not reduce the number of photons reflected. The secondary has a small chip at one edge that slightly, about 0.03 in. sq., reduces the reflecting area. Even with these chips the overall optical quality is excellent!

It has a JMI DX3 two inch Crayford focuser, with 1.25" adapter. The bearings are all teflon and Ebony Star. It has finder rings for a short tube 80 installed, but the ST80 is not included. It comes with a Telrad & dust covers.

The optical tube can be rotated in place. This is rare on a Dobsonian & makes viewing much more comfortable, I wish my new Obsession had this feature!

It is a big scope, but it is set up to make transportation easy. It has good handles, skid plates, and comes with a custom storage & service cart. This cart makes it easy for a single person to get the optical tube in & out of a small pick up.

Because this scope would be hard to ship, the buyer must pick it up in Santa Barbara, Ca.

I will sell it for the best offer over $1000.
