Original to the F1 system and made from early 1961 until
apparently 1968, this was popular with the photojournalists
covering the Viet Nam war. Fits all current Nikon camera bodies
as well, thanks to nikon's desire not to orphan any part of their
camera system. 500mm (labelled 50cm) focal length, appears to
be maksutov design, operating at f/5. EX+ condition with original
filter set and leather case. Case has rotted stitching, and has
been taped together w/ duct tape but is in VG condition otherwise.
BTW the cases are apparently somewhat more rare than the lens
itself, which is rare and highly collectible, and should not
be confused with later f/8 lenses. Includes short extension ring
for close focus. Razor shar, very fast for focal length.
Original caps etc. KEH has one at $1,452 (only one I've
seen in years - this is rare). Imagine cost of similar
speed / focal length newer nikon lens. $999
