I have a 12.5" Orion dob that I want to build a motorized, equatorial mount for (As inexpensively as possible of course).

In the September 1995 issue of S&T, there was an article called "Meet Christine". I'm patterning my design after the one described in this article. The author calls it a "convertible mount".

As described in the article, I'm using an automobile front-wheel hub and brake assembly to swivel the fork. I'm thinking about using a worm gear assembly to rotate it.

Please contact me if you have a motor and gear assembly that you feel will work.
