Here is a great looking iron nickel meteorite from the famous Campo del Cielo meteorite crater area in Argentina. This is an authentic heavy golfball sized meteorite and has a very interesting shape and many desirable features as you will see in the pictures below. It weighs approx 243 grams or 8 1/4 ounces. (Meteorites are heavy for their size). Think of a solid nickel iron golfball when imagining its size and weight.
This meteorite includes a Certificate of Authenticity, I will also include some interesting educational literature about the Campo del Cielo meteorites and preservation instructions. This meteorite has a “Buy Now” price of $119 + shipping, which can be selected at any time before the reserve price is met. Consider the “Buy Now” to avoid disappointment and a “bidding war”. This meteorite is attractively priced based on its shape, features, and distinguishing characteristics. It is one that any enthusiast from beginner to advanced collector can proudly display!
As a member of the IMCA (International Meteorite Collectors Association Member # 9189), I come across and have acquired many meteorites. This specimen is multi-featured, with spectacular "thumbprinting' (also known as remagalypts). This Campo del Cielo meteorite from Argentina has a superb shape and displays well in several positions. It was recovered in Argentina from a higher and drier strewn field known for the great condition and long-term stability of its meteorites. This was obtained from a registered IMCA dealer and is guaranteed for life to be 100% authentic. A meteorite like this makes a beautiful display piece for your home and is also an educational and fascinating gift. I should also mention that meteorites are a great investment, unlike many other things. Meteorites have long lasting value. They are more rare than diamonds, and what could be more interesting, fascinating, and fantastic than a meteorite that fell to Earth from outer space?
History: The first record of the Campo was in 1576. A Spanish governor learned of the iron from the Indians who reportedly believed that it had fallen from heaven. The governor sent an expedition under the command of one Captain de Miraval who brought back a few pieces of a huge iron mass he called Meson de Fierro (large table of iron). The location of the find was the Campo del Cielo (field of the sky or heaven), a fitting name for the location of a meteorite. Since the Indians believed that the irons fell from heaven the name may have come from the meteorites. The area is an open brush-covered plain that has little water and no other rocks--very good country in which to locate meteorites.
