Here are 5 golfball sized meteorites for sale all for one price. The winner will receive all 5 meteorites! These would be great for the person that has children or grandchildren and wants to give one to each. They would also be great for public education or outreach programs, school teachers, or even someone that wants to start a meteorite display for their desktop. All of them have great character, surface features, thumbprints (a desirable feature which has an official name of regmaglypt) and they display well from every angle. These are iron/nickel meteorites from Campo del Cielo (Field of the Heavens) Argentina, and are heavy and substantial for their size

Every Astronomer or night sky enthusiast should have a meteorite. Folks spend thousands of dollars trying to catch glimpses of objects in outer space. Yet, for less than the cost of a telescope eyepiece, you can own and hold your own rock from space! And here is an authentic iron nickel Meteorites from our solar system that you can display on your desk, in a home library, or observatory, and share with friends and family. Adults and children alike are fascinated with meteorites, and these objects are much more rare and interesting than any Earth rock.

These meteorites are guaranteed to impress everyone who examines and sees them! Each one has a Certificate of Authenticity, and Information sheet detailing the history of the Campo del Cielo meteorite, and the laboratory and chemical composition along with meteorite preservation tips.

The pictures below show all 5 meteorites. The first one is a group picture, then each one is shown individually. They have an approximate total weight of 2 Pounds 1 1/8 ounces, which is 940 grams. Individually, their weights are: 117 grams, 166 grams, 208 grams, 222 grams, and 227 grams.

Meteorite Facts:
Location of Meteorite Find: Campo del Cielo, Gran Chaco Gualamba, Argentina, about 500 miles north-northwest of Buenos Aries. Latitude 27 degrees 39 minutes South, Longitude 61 degrees 44 minutes West. • Structural Class: Coarse octahedrite, Og, Widmanstatten bandwidth 3.0 ±0.6 mm. • Chemical Class: Group I, 6.68% Ni, 0.43% Co, 0.25% P, 87 ppm Ga, 407 ppm Ge, 3.6 ppm Ir. • Time of Fall: 4,000 to 6,000 years ago

History: The first record of the Campo was in 1576. A Spanish governor learned of the iron from the Indians who reportedly believed that it had fallen from heaven. The governor sent an expedition under the command of one Captain de Miraval who brought back a few pieces of a huge iron mass he called Meson de Fierro (large table of iron). The location of the find was the Campo del Cielo (field of the sky or heaven), a fitting name for the location of a meteorite. Since the Indians believed that the irons fell from heaven the name may have come from the meteorites. The area is an open brush-covered plain that has little water and no other rocks--very good country in which to locate meteorites.
