Tell a friend    Printer friendly version This is a Meade Starfinder mount that has been converted to GoTo using the Sidereal Technology servo drive electronics/motors/software. It is one of many of this style of mount that I have converted. Pointing accuracy and tracking are excellent. You can read about the features of the controller on my website. There is an online group, examples of other installs and a manual located here: http://www.sitechservo.info/Home The controller manufacturer's website is located here: http://www.siderealtechnology.com/ Details: The scope this mount carries is a modified 16" sonotube newt, about 130 lbs., with no problems. This is the 1.5" shaft model. R.A. has a 1/2" x 12" OD wheel and worm gear, clutched. Dec. has a 9" x 1" wheel and worm gear, clutched. The worm mounting plates are 1/2" Al. plate covered with a .060" thick ABS plastic. The covers for each axis are ABS plastic and are very durable. The motors have encoders on them already, so no encoders are needed. The pier is slightly taller than standard and is included. There are slots in the top of the pier for Az. adjustments. The legs are the factory version, with mods for adjustment feet for leveling. The software used, free, is the standard servo software used on the harmonic mount, custom mounts and the conversions I do. It is ASCOM compatible, has Point XP in it etc. Object catalogs are in the planetarium program. Any ASCOM compaitble planetarium will work. There are free programs on the internet. R.A. tracking is on when you plug in the controller. It runs on 12 volts DC. PE correction curves can be uploaded from PemPro. You autoguide from any ASCOM compliant guider software. The scope cart the mount is sitting on is included, but I WILL NOT ship it. Pick up only for the scope cart. Shipping via freight carrier in the CONUS on a wood pallet covered with a wood crate is how it is packed for shippiong. Typical shipping costs are $500.00. I can delvier in North Texas or you can pick it up to avoid shipping costs. Liftgate can be included on delivery. They take it off the truck and put it where you want it from a pallet jack. You only need unpack the crate. The software settings are saved in the controller. If you have problems with planetariums and software/laptops, let me know. I can get a laptop and set it up for you, for a fee. Laptops for this software require XP and the rest of the software is free for download. Good used laptops are available for under $200.00. When you get the mount, I will assist you in setting up the software if needed. A wired handpad is included. The pictured factory counterweights are included.
