I am selling this is a f/15 F inch Unitron achromatic refractor purchased used around 1985 but used only twice because I am focusing on astrophotography rather than visual work. It was recently serviced by Unitron to check collimation and clean the optics. The service man commented that he had never seen a scope and focuser in such almost new condition. Includes a metal dew shield with some slight scratches and a cap. Also included are a custom made Scope Guard Case (cost around $600).
The sale also includes a wooden tripod showing some wear, but entirely functional with accessory tray and Super Polaris German Equatorial Mount of same vintage with polar finder scope, weights, and an illuminated reticle.
Included is a rare early goto computer that was recently started and still worked. It has Epoch 1950 data so it is mostly a collector's item. Still it is very cool that it still works.
Deal also includes several eyepieces and accessories including:
Unitron Monochro 40 mm
Televue 20mm Plossl
EDS Corp 20 mm Erfle
Unitron 18 mm Orthochromatic
Unitron 12.5 mm Ortho
Unitron 9 mm Ortho
Celestron 7.5 mm Plossl
Meade 1.25 Diagonal
Lumicon Deepsky Filter
Also included is a diificult to find double viewer attachment. This lets 2 people share the same view through 2 different eyepieces. Please not it is not the same as a binoviewer. It is meant for 2 people to view at once. This came with my telescope but I never used it. I always thought that it might come in handy for teaching my children or showing objects to my wife etc.
All cases shown in the photographs are included with the deal.
Not shown here is the original wooden case that came with the telescope. There are also solar viewing screens included. This is a terrific all around telescope. It is great for planetary work and at 4 inches it is good for brighter deep space objects as well. In its day it was considered the state of the art in refractors. There are still people who clooect these telescopes. I know several people using them for planetary work who won't part with Unitron scopes that they have owned for years. The buy now price is around $1000 less than I paid for the set around 1985 when I purchased it new and it didn't include the ScopeGuard case back then.
I would prefer not having to break this set up at the present time. If I don't get the reserve I may re-post with the items separated.
